A Pair of Staffordshire Salukis circa 1845

Salukis? Setters? Gun Dogs?
Well who really cares, they are just beautiful Staffordshire dogs.
We will call them Salukis.

They have such style, wonderful bases, even the birds are lovely.
Salukis are the coursing dogs of the desert, and yes they do look like them.

The painting is superb, I love the way the brush has just swept
across the face of the right hand dog.

A wonderful pair.

They are in good condition, with restoration to the tip of 1 bird wing
and to some enamel flaking on the red.

Height: 9 inches
