Nick Burton - for a Quality Staffordshire Figure

A Staffordshire Figure The Wounded Soldier - circa 1855

One of the classic Crimean War figures.

This is a lovely figure.
An English sailor with a wounded soldier.

This is an example that illustrates a great lesson in collecting.

It is perceived as being relatively common.
I love the subject, I love the brilliant colouring
but it is a figure where the modelling is quite simply usually awful !

This is a 10" version and is as good as I've seen.
For this model it is a superb example
and very rare indeed.

Ask yourself the question;
when did you see a nice example ?

The modelling is as good as it gets,
very good gilding,
a fine glaze and wonderful colouring

It is very good condition.
Apart from some minor flaking,
There is no damage and
there is no restoration.

Height: 10 inches

This figure and the print which is it source,
is well described and illustrated in;
