A Pair of Staffordshire Figures of Spaniels - circa 1850
This is a magnificent pair of large, chunky, Staffordshire Spaniels.
With bright and bold feathered red markings, beautifully painted snouts,
fine whiskers and great big eyes give them charming faces.
Queen Victoria's favourite dog was a King Charles Spaniel named "Dash"
and the Staffordshire potters started making Spaniels of all shapes and sizes to
decorate fireplaces throughout the Country.
These handsome spaniels are in superb condition,
with just a tiny paint flake on the tip of each snout.
There is no restoration.
Wouldn't they look good by your fireplace?
