A Staffordshire Tittensor Figure of a Deer Hunter - circa 1820

Deer Hunter
Made by Charles Tittensor,
Staffordshire

Tittensor figures are very rare,
these underglaze figures are very distinctive,
this figure is the most attractive and wonderful Tittensor figure
I have ever seen, in person, or anywhere else.

Pat Halfpenny dates Tittensor figures circa 1810 to 1825

She dates this figure 1820 - 1825

Who am I to date this figure in comparison to this expert,
but my instinct would be to date this figure at the very earliest
in her Tittensor date range.

This example has great provinance;
It is figure 23 of a marvellous exhibition
