A Pair of Staffordshire Cows - circa 1850
Staffordshire Spillvases of Cows,
very rarely - with Calves AND Milkmaids.
Cows are part of the English countryside and have been
for many centuries.
Inevitably our potters over the years made numerous
pairs of Staffordshire cows,
strangely good early pairs very rarely turn up,
they usually late copies.
The reason is quite simple,
these cow groups are very rare.
This is a fabulous pair,
This is a good early Victorian pair.
The enamels are brilliant -
a real riot of colour.
The gilding is a little special.
There is minor restoration to 2 horn tips,
2 calf legs & 1 cow leg.
Height: 10.75 inches
