A Staffordshire "Disraeli" Greyhound - circa 1850

A superb Staffordshire "Disraeli" Greyhound.

Nearly all the Staffordshire "Long Dogs" are indeed Greyhounds.
Often referred to as Whippets, no the king of dogs in Victorian times
was the Greyhound.  Coursing was hugely popular and the
Champion dogs were celebreties.

This is a lovely greyhound, beautifully painted and very finely modelled.
"Disraeli" greyhounds can vary greatly in quality.
The best examples have cuts between the hind leg and the tail.

It is in very good condition,
a little flaking of the tourqoise
and with no restoration.

Height: 10.75 inches
