A Staffordshire Spaniel - circa 1845
A superb big Staffordshire "Disraeli" Spaniel,
with distinctive blue eyes.
Queen Victoria's favourite dog was a King Charles Spaniel named "Dash"
and the Staffordshire potters started making Spaniels of all shapes and sizes to
decorate fireplaces throughout the Country.
This large chunky Spaniel with stunning blue eyes,
must be one of the finest Staffordshire Spaniels to have been made.
Spaniels of this model are tall, broad and deep,
with separately moulded front paws,
it has a lovely face and generous soft gilding.
This model of "Disraeli" spaniel
with its special decoration must be extremely rare,
it the only one I have come across in over 30 years.
It is in excellent condition,
with no damage with no restoration.
Height: 12.75 inches
