A Gentleman with 2 Coursing Greyhounds - circa 1845
I love this figure.
Yes it has greyhounds, but that is not the only reason I love it.
It has a wonderful range of colours,
the figure is 3 dimentional,
with the greyhounds in the foreground
and a stylish gentleman with his top hat beside but slightly
behind them, and of course the spill vase.
The modelling is great, nice glaze - it is a true work of art.
But who is it?
Yes I have tried to find out and failed so far.
But maybe you can help me.
Yes we have a suggestion - Daniel O'Connell.
The date is about right, it does look a bit like him,
The Irish love greyhounds.
What do you think?
Is there a picture like this that inspired our potters?
This figure has had the top of the spill restored
and it has been restored at the neck - very well I must add.
But I don't care, the figure is great, I love it!
Height: 10.5 inches
I am always looking for fine quality Greyhounds.
